![]() PRESIDENT’S CORNER Greetings from the Whaler Inn board! If you were unable to attend the annual meeting in February, we are happy to report that last year ended in good shape even though the economy was not the best. Although we had a good year overall, unfortunately, our long-time manager, Jean Hamrick, went on medical leave in September. She is doing as well as can be expected, but has a long rehab ahead of her. However, there is good news! Sherry Ellingsworth, a long time member of the board, was appointed acting manager, without pay, during Jean’s medical leave last fall. Sherry is a licensed real estate broker and has been able to keep sales and rentals ongoing during this difficult time. Fortunately for the Whaler, Sherry retired from the U.S. Postal Service and effective April 1st accepted the position of permanent manager of the Whaler Inn. The board is very grateful to Sherry for her service during the period when she served as acting manager, without pay, to keep the Whaler Inn going without interruption in service. We could not have operated without Sherry’s expertise and dedication. You will notice as soon as you enter the Whaler Inn lobby that Sherry is sprucing up the place with new paint and curtains. We also are planning to replace the broken cement at the front entrance with concrete pavers that will be permanent and attractive. Our #1 request from owners and renters is to have WiFi accessible in the units; therefore, we are contracting for this to be implemented and hopefully will be available soon if not already. We must request that owners be considerate of those who will follow us in our units. Our #1 complaint, especially in the busy summer season, is not being able to check in to the units at In addition, I would like to remind everyone that all fees must be paid in full prior to checking into your unit. If you are in arrears, please contact the bookkeeper to make arrangements to pay in full or establish a payment plan. Also, if you receive a rental check from the Whaler, please either cash it as soon as possible or ask that your rental be applied to your maintenance fees. This will prevent checks from being outstanding on our books for an undue period of time. As you are aware, the 4th floor conference room is available to owners for small parties if you are staying at the Whaler for a nominal $25.00 cleaning fee. The conference room, as well as the bathroom, must be cleaned after every usage regardless of the size of the group. For large parties, other rates apply. If interested in using the conference room, please check with Sherry or the front desk in advance so they can be sure it is reserved. I hope everyone is able to visit soon. Please feel free to contact Sherry when you are there and let her know how you like the improvements that have been made. Rachel Castle, President Whaler Inn Board of Directors |
